Freeblock 5.0 Kitchen: the innovation of the tailors of steel

Freeblock 5.0 Kitchen: the innovation of the tailors of steel

“Freeblock 5.0 means: designing and manufacturing bespoke kitchens. Designing, together with the customer, the work top where the customer’s chef will act, carefully planning his or her movements and the most suitable instrumentation for the chef’s kitchen.”

With this simple phrase, Alan Dal Pos describes the Lotus SPA project, Freeblock 5.0 Kitchen.

But what does the expression Freeblock 5.0 entail?

In the article, the CEO of Lotus Spa, Alan Dal Pos, explains how much work is behind this innovative project.

Kitchen 5.0: refining the collaboration between man and machine

Many are more familiar with the expression Industry 4.0, which for some years has also indicated all the technological improvements in manufacturing companies in order to enhance the performance of their processes. This is especially true in terms of productivity.

The new industrial process that is emerging, called Industry 5.0, represents a turning point. It does not simply target the increase in production capacity, but the efficiency of the collaboration between man and machine.

Lotus is welcoming this new phase with great enthusiasm, as it is fully in line with its way of thinking. That is, even in the most structured and complex tasks, guaranteeing the sensation of familiarity and ease between the cooks and their kitchens.

Lotus 5.0: what is behind all this attention to detail?

Lotus was founded as an artisanal family business, but over several generations the company has grown a great deal, indeed, becoming a company having more in common with the industrial sector than with the artisan sector.

Lotus’s corporate mission has always been to provide a more personal touch to its service and its kitchens, from the design phase to manufacturing.

“Being ‘tailors of steel’ for our customers, managing to carefully and meticulously design the professional high-efficiency kitchen without losing the artisanal value of the kitchens.”

Freeblock 5.0 customises the kitchen top with ad hoc modules

Every Freeblock 5.0 (or monoblock) worktop and Freeblocks (modules) is built to combine emotion and rationality, prestige and solidity, efficiency and personality in the kitchen.

The kitchen top is the starting point of the project. Once the measurements haves been established, we move on to planning which functions will be incorporated: electrical, gas, induction elements, compartments and storage units (precisely, the freeblocks).

Each Freeblock 5.0 is always a unique project, with an equally customised result, born with the aim of hosting the service configuration requested by the customer. As reliable as the personality of its owner, every day it helps to resolve any of the kitchen’s needs and can be installed in those “inaccessible” places (even without welding: the single block mounts and disassembles piece by piece with the various components).

Lotus Kitchens: the human aspect in advanced technology

The technological aspect in the Lotus product has become increasingly important in recent years. Despite this, Lotus does not want to create a situation within his own company in which the automatisms of the machine put the craftsman’s work in the background.

The organisational dimension and the production force do not affect what Lotus that has always tried to maintain, the imprint of the family-run company, made up of internal and external relations.

This starting point allows us to offer an increasingly efficient and advanced kitchen and service without neglecting the special touch of the tailors of steel.
